SATREPSキックオフミーティングを
開催

地球規模課題対応国際科学技術協力事業(SATREPS)「ケニアにおける黄熱病およびリフトバレー熱に対する迅速診断法の開発とそのアウトブレイク警戒システムの構築」のキックオフミーティングは2012年6月8日、ナイロビ市内のパナフリックホテルにて開催されました。
当日は在ケニア日本国大使館公使、JICAケニア事務所長、JST感染症分野研究主幹の北潔博士、ケニア国公衆衛生局長、ケニア中央医学研究所長をはじめ約60名の賓客・関係者が出席し、プロジェクトの船出を祝いました。
プロジェクトの活動概要が紹介されると、望まれる成果について活発な議論が交わされました。
本プロジェクトを通して開発される簡易迅速診断技術とアウトブレイク警戒システムモデルは、ケニアのみならず、東アフリカ諸国の感染症対策に貢献できるものと期待されています。

日本脳炎に関する国際会議

2009年10月29-30日、ベトナム・フエ市で、日本脳炎、及びウイルス性脳炎の予防と制御に関する国際会議があり、 長崎大学からは森田公一教授と長谷部太教授が参加しました。

インフルエンザ迅速診断法を開発しました

当分野の久保亨博士は、インフルエンザ・ウイルスに対して信頼性のある、LAMP法による迅速診断法を確立しました。


今回、迅速診断技術が短期間で開発できた要因には、国内研究者の努力とともに、長崎大学が拠点をおくベトナム国立衛生疫学研究所から いち早くウイルス遺伝子を入手できたことがあります。新興感染症の研究と対策にとって、国際的な研究協力は不可欠です。今回の迅速診断法開発も、これまで海外拠点形成に力を入れてきた、 本学の国際的な研究活動の蓄積があって可能となりました。
