  • 長崎大学医歯薬総合研究科 新興感染症病態制御学系専攻 博士課程

    感染症分野におけるグローバルリーダーを育成する観点から、各種病原体、熱帯病・新興感染症に関する社会医学に関連する知識を付与する。専門知識を生かす問題解決力を養い、種々の施政上の方針や方策を立てる力を養うために、感染症分野での課題解決型授業やケーススタディを行う。主体的学修をベースに専門家とともに議論を深める。

    リーディング大学院とそれ以外の2つの枠がある。

  • School of Tropical Medicine and Global Health (Master Courses)

    In April 2015, School of Tropical Medicine and Global Health was newly established.

    The School consists of three master courses;

    Tropical Medicine Course (Master of Tropical Medicine) provides the medical doctors with clinical knowledge and academic research skill to respond to health issues in the area of tropical medicine. (one year)

    International Health Development Course (Master of Public Health) equips the students with essential knowledge and skills required to pursue careers in international health. (two years)

    Health Innovation Course (Master of Science in Global Health and Medicine) gives opportunities of basic research skills to prepare for pursuing higher academic careers in global health research. (two years)The latter two courses are open to those who have no medical/ health background.

    One of the strengths is that the students of all three courses will learn together in the basic modules on global health so that they will have opportunities to understand the issues in wider perspectives than their own disciplines.

    Other characteristics include the whole learning is conducted in English and the academic partnership of teaching and research with London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, a leading global institute of tropical medicine.

  • 長崎大学卓越大学院プログラム

    卓越大学院プログラムは、卓越した人材(新たな知の創造と活用を主導し、次代を牽引する価値を創造するとともに、社会的課題の解決に挑戦して、社会にイノベーションをもたらすことができる博士人材)を育成することを目的として文部科学省が平成30年度から開始した新規事業である。

    本プログラムは、ロンドン大学衛生・熱帯医学大学院との連携を中核とし、本研究所教員を軸に構築された学位プログラムとなっており,条件を満たした場合、博士学生には教育研究支援経費(月額10~20万)や研究費が支給される。また、熱帯医学・グローバルヘルス研究科や医歯薬学総合研究科等の保健系のみならず、多文化社会学研究科、工学研究科、水産・環境科学総合研究科の学生も登録可能となっている。

  • Three-month Course on Tropical Medicine (TTM)

    This is a short-course of tropical medicine. This course aims to support medical and co-medical personnel who plan to work in the tropics, by providing opportunities to learn a broad range of skills and knowledge relevant to practicing medicine, implementing disease control programs and conducting medical research in tropical and developing countries. The course began in 1978 and since 2017, it opens to the researchers who pursue technology for global health. Fifteen participants are accepted to attend the course in each year. As of the 39th course in 2016, 501 participants in total (including 181 medical doctors, and 320 co-medical such as nurses, community health nurses, midwives, pharmacists) from all over Japan have completed the course.

    The course is run by the steering committee, which consists of members from both inside and outside the Institute of Tropical Medicine (ITM).

    During thirteen weeks (April to June), the full-time staff members of the ITM and a substantial number of visiting professors and lecturers provide lectures, laboratory practicals and field work, in the fields of virology, bacteriology, protozoology, parasitology, medical entomology, pathology, immunogenetics, epidemiology, human ecology, social medicine, clinical medicine and also geography and culture in tropics. Participants who successfully completed the course are awarded the Diploma in Tropical Medicine.

  • Professional Diploma of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (DTM&H)
    英語で実施されるプログラムで、医師を対象とします。

    The Nagasaki Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (DTM&H) is a three month, full time taught course in Japan and the Philippines. The course is taught by lecturers from Japan, UK, the Philippines and other countries who have clinical as well as research experience in tropical diseases. This course is intensive and designed to quickly equip medical doctors with knowledge and skills necessary to work effectively in resource limited regions or travel clinics. We welcome applications from, doctors who are planning to work with international health missions, work in travel clinics, undertaking infectious diseases training, or from those with a general interest in the field.

  • Diploma Course on Research & Development of Products to meet Public Health Needs

    This part of the course will begin with a general overview of product R&D (drugs, vaccines and diagnostics), continue with a series of lectures on discovery research, transitioning between research and development, CMC (chemical, manufacturing and control) requirements, toxicology requirements from development to product license, pharmaceutical and analytical development, pharmacokinetics and metabolic studies, clinical studies - phase I-IV trial design and protocols - project planning and management, handling of safety data in development, regulatory requirements, post regulatory clinical studies, patents issues and other aspects of product development i.e. international standards of good practice, ethics in clinical research, DSMB (Data and safety Monitoring Boards), commercial and marketing activities, and public health implementation.

  • International Course on Research Ethics

    This international course is an overview of research ethics, focusing on the ethics of health research. This course will cover the following: a) histrical background, principles, and guidelines of research ethics; b) structure, roles, and functions of research ethics committees; c) ethical considerations in health research such as those related to informed consent, conflict of interest, and risk and benefit evaluation; and d) ethical issues and methodologies in different health research fields (genetics research, epidemiological and social research, pediatric research; and traditional medicine research) in the context of national, regional, and international collaborative research.
