研究方針／目的

　感染症は今なお人類共通の大きな脅威であり，とくに貧困に喘ぐ熱帯地域ではその自然・社会環境と相俟って猛威を振るい続けています。寄生虫疾患の特徴は，長きにわたって人々の健康を損ない，その死亡率からは窺い知れないほど甚大な社会経済的な損失を生み出すことにあります。
　本分野では，熱帯地域で流行する寄生虫疾患に関し，フィールド・ラボ双方向からのアプローチを通して様々な視点からの理解に努め，未来へ繋がる研究そして人材の育成に貢献したいと考えています。

Infectious Diseases are still a huge menace to human health and continue unabated in tropical areas under conditions of poverty and the unique natural and social environments. Many parasitic diseases infect humans for long periods of time without killing them, giving rise to tremendous social and/or economic loss.
We would like to develop deep insight into parasitic diseases and the surrounding factors from various points of view through both field and laboratory studies. Our goal is to contribute to new knowledge and to provide an enthusiastic environment for the training of the future generation of investigators.
