On 16th November 2023, Nagasaki University was highly commended by Ambassador Takeshi Okanote, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Republic of Kenya, for its contributions to the development of healthcare activities in the Republic of Kenya since 1966.

The commendation also recognized Nagasaki University’s efforts in promoting the health of the Kenyan people, as well as its contribution to mutual understanding and friendly relations between the two countries. The award was presented at an award ceremony held in Nairobi, Kenya.

Professor Satoshi Kaneko, the director of the Kenya Research Station, attended the ceremony as the representative of Nagasaki University. During the ceremony, he received a certificate of commendation from Ambassador Takeshi Okanote on behalf of Nagasaki University.
