On July 26th, GHIT CEO Dr. Kunii and Senior Director Isaac Chikwanha visited the Kenya office. Deputy Director Inoue introduced the history of the Kenya office, current research activities of Nagasaki University in Kenya, and taking the visitors on a tour of the P3 Lab and Kenya office lab. From the GHIT, there was a presentation about ongoing projects worldwide, followed by a lively exchange of ideas regarding expanding research networks in Sub-Saharan Africa, clinical trials, and vaccine development in Kenya.
The collaborative projects between Nagasaki University, JICA, and KEMRI, as well as research accomplishments in Kenya and networks with neighboring East African countries, were highly appreciated. On the following day,Dr. Kunii and Senior Director Isaac Chikwanha also visited the Mbita site, where they were introduced to Professor Hamano’s schistosomiasis project, the root technology cooperation project for snail control.
