Associate Prof. Nobuo SAITO Since October 2023, I have held the position of Associate Professor at the Kenya Research Station of the Institute of Tropical Medicine, Nagasaki University. My expertise lies in tropical medicine and clinical infectious disease epidemiology. I have a decade of experience in the Philippines, including five years at Nagasaki University, Institute of Tropical Medicine Global Health Research Course, and another five years at the Department of Microbiology, Oita University Faculty of Medicine. During this time, I conducted clinical epidemiological research on diseases such as rabies, drug-resistant bacterial infections, diphtheria, leptospirosis, and dengue fever. Additionally, I actively participated in JICA's international cooperation projects. In the future, in Kenya, I plan to leverage the base established by the esteemed figures at the Institute of Tropical Medicine to promote clinical epidemiological research and personnel education in Africa. To conduct world-class research, I recognize the importance of implementing multinational collaborations and cooperating with researchers and private companies both domestically and internationally. Click here for Associate Prof. Saito's biography：researchmap Assistant Prof. Mayu HIKONE I have assumed the position of Assistant Professor at the Kenya Research Station since November 2023. I am delighted to be engaged in research on tropical medicine and infectious diseases at the historic Kenya Research Station. After graduating from Tokyo Women's Medical University, I underwent postgraduate training in the Infectious Diseases Department at Tokyo Metropolitan Sumida Hospital from 2012. At Sumida Hospital, a local acute care hospital, I gained experience with various community-acquired and imported infectious diseases. In 2016, I pursued a master's program at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, conducting research on infectious disease diagnosis using point-of-care tests at San Lazaro Hospital in the Philippines. After completing the master's program, I worked at the Emergency and Critical Care Center at Sumida Hospital, gaining experience in a wide range of conditions, including pediatrics, perinatal care, mental health, and trauma emergency. Utilizing my clinical experience in infectious diseases and acute medical care, I aim to contribute to research and education that can assist in healthcare in resource-limited settings, benefiting many people and contributing to the improvement of international health.
