研究歴
疫学研究として、離島における褥瘡の有病率調査、中部ベトナムにおける脳血管疾患の罹患率調査などを実施した。老年医学研究では、長崎県の前向きコホート研究Nagasaki Islands Studyとしてフレイルと独居との関連、フレイルと多愁訴との関連、フレイルのスクリーニングの客観的指標としての最大舌圧値や口腔関連QOLの意義について評価をした。また、インドのHyderabadの大規模コホート研究（APCAPS; The Andhra Pradesh Children and Parents Study）との国際共同研究として、身体機能低下と動脈硬化（頚動脈内膜中膜複合体厚）との関連について報告した。HTLV-1の無症候性キャリアーにおいて動脈硬化の関連性を報告し（Yamanashi H, et al. Clin Infect Dis. 2018）HTLV-1がサルコペニアのリスク因子であることを明らかにした（Yamanashi H, et al. Aging (Albany NY). 2020）。インドAPCAPSとMultimorbidityに関する国際共同研究を行なっている。
