A. General Joint Research

We are looking for basic and applied research projects for tropical diseases and emerging infectious diseases (including the field of global health) that can make use of our institute (including our overseas associated facilities). NEKKEN has established a base for field research in tropical areas centered on research facilities for infectious diseases in Asia and Africa, and also as a research base for infectious diseases in Japan, it has a system to support advanced research. We particularly encourage young researchers, female researchers, and foreign researchers to participate. We seek PI’s application as well as research subjects which involve female and young researcher as participants.

You can make a pair application with “B. Research Seeds”. Please fill in the Form A. No need to submit Form B.
Please note graduate students cannot apply as representatives, but can be included in research organizations.
We are also actively recruiting applications for joint research in the field of global health and transdisciplinary. Please consult with the staff in each field at NEKKEN.
The research period is for one year. A multi-year research plan can be described; however, the maximum period for research is three years. The selection process is conducted on an annual basis.

B. Research Seeds

This category aims to discover the research seeds that would lead to collaborative research in future. The scope is tropical diseases and/or emerging infectious diseases, including global health, that make full use of NEKKEN’s pathogenic resources such as viruses, bacteria, protozoa, and helminths, as well as literature and specimens.
